Showy Banksia
Uploaded: November 01, 2011
Showy Banksia (Banksia speciosa). It's a shrub or small tree and it reaches up to 8 m in height. It grows in the Esperance Plains and on the south coast of Western Australia. The flowers are quite large.

I have flipped the image horizontally. I think I like it better this way, coming from the bottom left corner.

A delightful bloom and a great capture Stan! I haven't seen this one over here in the east yet, but give it time! #1419801Barbara Waldoch November 01, 2011

Sensational capture and presentation, Stan. I love the red tips! #9777595Ann Coates November 01, 2011
The flowers are really large. I'm sure Barbara Waldoch has an image in her gallery with a bird standing on one of these flowers and that's what made me realise how big these flowers really are. Beautiful image Stan. #9777879Ann Coates November 01, 2011
Me again, I just realised it was you who had the image of the bird standing on this flower, oops! #9777882Stan J. Bendkowski November 02, 2011
