Posing Brown-headed Cowbird

Uploaded: July 07, 2011

Description

This delicately coloured female Brown-headed Cowbird has one of the sweetest personalities of this species I have ever had the pleasure of paying a visit here. She is most polite to all the birds that gather to dine at the feeding stations from dawn to dusk and mingles among them just as friendly as can be.

She is the lightest coloured Brown-headed Cowbird I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Cowbirds arrive here in Springtime and stay til mid Fall then follow the migrating birds back down South. Photo captured May 14th 2011 on our acreage in South West British Columbia, Canada.

Interesting facts about which species raise their young may be found on the Internet.

Exif: F Number: 3.7, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/50 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 64, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 72.00 mm, Model: KODAK P712 ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA

She is beautiful, indeed, in this wonderful capture. It is SO weird that Nature has created a bird that doesn't raise its own young. #1391353
