This is particularly lovely (a favorite Spring flower here in Michigan.) Were you photographing this series of flowers in a Botanical Conservatory near you, or on vacation? They don't seem like Arizona natives/home garden types of flowers.

Do you shoot them with a Macro lens? The entire series is wonderful. #1386958

Hi Kathy, This series was taken at a friends garden here in Santa Fe,NM. He can grow anything ..he blessed with a "Green thumb". I am not that gifted so I visit his garden all summer long because something is always blooming. I shot these flowers with Nikon 105 F2.8 lens which I love! #9470856

Amazing - a lack of regional knowledge had me assuming that it was too hot in NM to grow these different varieties. He is indeed talented.

I just bought my first prime (inexpensive Canon 50mm.) When my ship comes in, the Cargo Hold had better be filled with a ton of my fantasy lenses! Glass does make a difference. #9470867

Oh it can be hot Kathy as it is right now but the Spring time here is pefect for these beauties...we are at 7000 feet so it is a bit cooler then say Albuquerque which is hotter and more desert like.
I hope your ship comes in and I am still waiting for mine to bring me a couple more lenses which in this life might not happen...hell, it is just not going to happen...need to get real here. LOL, but I can dream.

Have you tried extention tubes on the 50? #9471021

Kathryn Wesserling June 21, 2011

I bought a couple of converters (58mm), but not the extension tubes. Part of the problem is that I now have 3 different sizes (50mm, 58mm, and 72 mm) who don't want to play nicely and share the tubes and filters! I can't afford to provide equal presents for all! lolllllllll #9471304

I don't understand Kathy. The part that goes into the camera is always the same and then your lens fits into that...orrr does yours fit on the lens front? If so they sell inexpensively an adapter..you might call b&h and see what they say. I'd be interested in hearing the outcome. #9471735

sorry, that was a Duh-Moment. It's the filters that I keep having to buy for each lens size. The converters do connect first. Perhaps, a 9:00 pm bedtime is in order tonight! #9471746

LOL, I feel the same way sometimes...they also sell adapters for the filters to...check b&h website..i am almost positive they do...but don't use a filter when shooting flowers...no need for them. Ok, hope you have a good night...nice chatting with you Kathy. Hope to hear an update. #9471993
