Description

A long board surfer shows the passion and exhilaration of making a good ride.

This salt water sports photograph was made from my rocky perch on the breakwater overlooking Town Beach in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia on a very humid and overcast summer day.

Canon EOS 40D & Canon USM 100-300mm Lens: RAW, 1/1000sec @ f/14, 230mm, ISO 100, Hand held.
Lightroom 2.2 & Photoshop CS3.

THE MAKING OF 'Longboard Style #2':

My best Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club mate Pete and I had finished our Saturday morning coffee and cake at Crèma Espresso Bar, the very best coffee shop in town and decided to take a stroll along the breakwater to Town Beach in hope of catching some decent bodyboard action.
Even though the weather turned against us and the surf and action was so-so, we both still came home with a few keepers.
I was more than happy with the 40D's performance and can't wait to give it a go under better conditions.
Because of the overcast conditions, the light and colours were very flat and the wet suit was black so I decided on B&W for this one. I feel it shows off our surfing hero much better.
