Description

This is Charlie Martin, our guide for a day in the swamp and a nature photographer himself. He was most often out of the boat, in his waders, trying to quietly push the boat as close to wildlife as he could manage without bothering the animals. This swamp was near Vacherie, Louisiana, and although one wouldn't ordinarily think of a swamp as beautiful, it truly was beautiful to see.

Thanks, Tammy, Julianne, Murry, and Jeana. It was quite an experience. The weather for the first few days we were there was not nice. They are about two to three weeks behind on spring things sprouting, after a very cold winter for them, but they began to finally on the last couple of days. A couple of the other folks along got into the swamp in waders too, but I opted not to. What was up to their hips would have been a good deal higher on me, and I was quite sure I'd step in a hole and lose all my camera gear if I tried it. #8472319
