What a fascinating job you did here Debbie!!! This effect would look spectacular on a country scene with a pond and maybe a swan :) i'm imagining and seeing this photo :) what did you actually use to create the effect? #1248053

Peter W. Marks March 13, 2010

Very Van Gogh. Love the colors and composition. My eyes roam all over it, which with some images is a distraction but here is quite the opposite. I could be sitting on a fallen log with the sun on my back. looking at this scene and thinking 'God is the supreme artist' we can only hope to copy. #8452996

Very well done Debbie! #8453079

Thank you, guys! It was taken last fall at the Farmer's Market in Manitou Springs. I am still working on editing images since I can't hold a camera with
any significant sized lens attached yet.

Laurence - this is Alien Skin Snap Art and very easy to do. You can get a trial version just by going to Alien Skin's website. #8453256

Debbie... I keep saying... you are an artist! You are so fortunate to have found your medium!! This is stunning! Most times (including myself) this type of processing is often an attempt to 'save' an image... you just improve on it! #8453388

Debbie E. Payne March 13, 2010

Such a wonderful compliment, Joan. Thank you so much. And by the way, you are so right -- this kind of treatment CAN save a few images along the way.

This was one that I like both ways but am leaning towards the impasto one. #8453449

Love the color and diagonal comp Deb, I definitely favor the alien skin version.. #8453773

I will definately try it!!! #8453811

As an admirer of Van Gogh, I was taken by this image immediately. Love the technique and the comps. The colors are wonderful. #8454020

Love it. The original is very good but the impasto one is fabulous. The colors are wonderful and the POV is perfect. You really do have an amazing eye, not only to capture the shot but you know just the right treatment to take it over the top. #8454356

Aimee C. Eisaman March 14, 2010

An interesting POV....love the tilt of it. I love the impasto filter....wish I had a money tree in the backyard! LOL I think the effect was just right for this image, but I do have a few thoughts about the lighting in the shot. I'd think that my eye should be led straight up the trunk into the leaves above taking in the background as I go. But here my eye seems to be drawn off track to the bright areas such as the bright yellow and some of the sky close to the tree. If you agree you could darken those areas prior to applying the filter. :~) JMHO (Just My Humble Opinion) #8454383

Debbra Bailey March 14, 2010

LOVE IT! The filter works perfect! Greta diagonal composition too! #8455592

Debbie very well done, I like this filter had it for 30 days and really enjoyed it alot. want to buy it need to save my pennies.
the colors in this is stunning, I like your POV on this great job. really like it! #8455597

Debbie, This looks fantastic. Your choice of image was spot on for the impasto look. The colors are so Van Gogh. The composition is beautiful. I think Aimee's suggestions is interesting and worth a try. #8456881

Debbie E. Payne March 15, 2010

Aimee -What do you think about your suggestions? If this isn't what you were going for how might I change it? I tried dulling down the yellow but I think it took away too much of the warmth of the upper half of the image. I think the riotous colors in the original image work best for the mood I was going for. As always, your input is valued! #8456910

Good grief - it is time for me to get off the computer. Can't believe that I did that TWICE without sending the image. Hopefully, this goes through..... #8456918

Debbie E. Payne March 15, 2010

I forgot I had up the original original up on the desktop and chose it by mistake. I promise it'll be right this time because I renamed it so I would know where it was going and deleted the original one. #8456931

Aimee C. Eisaman March 15, 2010

The last version seems to have a pink hue to it. I think I'd stick with the original version. My suggestion was to only darken the yellow highlights in a few areas of the bottom. Not to desaturate the yellow at all so that the colors were still bold, but not as bright. Guess I didn't make that clear...sorry. :~) #8457108

Teresa H. Hunt March 15, 2010

Debbie, I love this shot. The effect you used is perfect for this. I really like the bold colors. And after seeing the original I think I like the effect better. :) #8457414

Michael Kelly level-deluxe March 15, 2010

While I love the original I do think the effect works extremely well on this shot. It works for me either way but I am leaning slightly to the original with the Snap Art applied. #8457856

Aimee C. Eisaman March 19, 2010

Congrats on your EP Debbie! Why didn't you put it in DD? I guess it really could fit in either one. :~) #8465971
