Tony what is the BFF?

I like the composition of this one and the POV. It looks like a slight bit of motion blur on the dog, but not so much that it ruins the photo. What was your shutter speed on this one? Other than that I think it looks good as presented and there is no good fix for motion blur if that is what I am seeing. #1239286

Good call Mike...I thought the slight blur was a DOF issue but the shutter speed was only 1/10sec @f5.6 ISO 400, and at 150mm to boot. The VR (vibration reduction) does a pretty good job at minimizing motion blur. Dont' know if anyone else has encounted this, but it was one of those situations where just eyeballing the ambiemnt light one would think it was bright enough to get better shutter speeds with a fairly wide aperture. Obviously this wasn't the case #8386394

Even though you had good light, your camera was metering off of a fairly dark subject. I'm guessing this is why the slow shutter speed. (I'm guessing here)

by the way, for hand held at those settings, this is really good. #8386626

I Keep hearing BFF and when you I first saw it early this morning (too early to comment LOL) I decided to finally look it up... knew it was best friends, but never figured out the extra "F" LOL. Now I know.

What a sweet shot this is! Love the closeness represented by this two... BFF indeed! I don't think the blur is an issue at all, personally, I think the moment you captured overrides the issue.! #8386987

great shot tony especially hand held I take it, you like your new lens. that is what I used last summer when I shot the hand and the moon. its amazing what a difference it makes with the VR in it. I wouldn't change a thing about this picture. love the title and love sweetness about it. #8387234

I was so caught up in the sweetness of the shot did not even notice any motion blur. The child is adorable and I love the expression of the best friend. #8387461

For 1/10 second hand held you did a great job and the motion blur all seems to be from the subject not from the photographer. Like I said, it is so slight that I don't think it impacts the shot and I agree with what Jeff said about a dark subject.

I love how they have their eyes turned the same way. #8387927

Thanks all, I do indeed enjoy that lens...I think it was well worth the investment. Thats a good point Jeff and probably does explain the slower shutter speed. #8389225

So Mike when are we going to see some new picture of your puppy....? #8390006

Teresa H. Hunt February 17, 2010

Wow! For 1/10 of a sec. shutter speed you did a great job. I love this shot, it's really sweet. My only comment is I wish we could see more of the girls face and less of the dog's. But that's probably because I'm not an animal person . . . especially dogs. :) #8390675

Anthony L. Mancuso February 18, 2010

Thanks Teresa, I see your point..the dogs snout does intrude into her face.. #8391809

Tony, this is one of your best, in my opinion. Not only is the technical aspect good but the comp and treatment of the subjects is excellent. I love both expressions and how you've captured the moment. Definitely one of my favorites. #8392143

Thanks much Dale, that really means a lot to me :-) #8392494

BP is acting up now and I can only see thumbnails of the photos. When I click on them to enlarge it becomes just a white box with a little red x in the corner...so I'm going from a tiny thumbnail on what I see.
I love the way you captured the expression of the little girl with her BFF...diefinitely priceless :) #8402749

I like everything about this image Tony. She's a beautiful young lady and she has a fine looking friend.
But just one thing, where the heck are you guys seeing motion blur? I went to the eye doctor last week and my new glasses should be here in a few days but I am just not seeing motion blur. I look at a whisker and whilst it just might be the tiniest bit out of focus I see no sign of motion. Help me here guys! #8408423
