Just wanted to say that I like this photo. The coloring and image take me "almost" to another time and place.

Where was the shot taken? Were any filters used? What camera, lens, film, shutter speed, etc. were used? #56

Great picture!! You mean to tell me that was taken with slide film? What would be the best slide film for photographing African Americans? I have never shot with any slides. Is it true that you can enlarge slide prints to great size with out worrying about graininess? #118

Yes - slide film all the way. If you were shooting in a studio, I might recommend Fuji Astia. Or stick with print negatives and use Fuji Reala.

I used Fuji Velvia for the above photo just because I happened to be out shooting the sunset and beach scenes. It is general not the best on skin tones but in this case, it worked well.

Since the size of the film is still the same as 35mm negatives, you won't necessarily be able to enlarge slides more. If you want to do that you have to get a slower speed film (ISO 25, 50, 64, etc.) or use a larger size piece of film (medium or large format).

Great image Jim. My eyes focus on the chain then immediately to his face, then I unconscioulsly scan and rescan the photo going back to his face feeling the warmth of the daylight glowing from him. You've captured the warmth of the day and that of the subject as well... Thanks... #568
