THE APOTHECARY

Description

This piece of furniture which sits in my entry reminds me of our time overseas. Since Misawa, Japan was considered a "remote site", family members could get on flights to other places for some "R&R" - military lingo for Rest and Relaxation".

Roaming the streets of the market area in Korea was a real wake-up call. Although the vendors were smiling on the outside we could feel their dislike of Americans and going in and out of the gate at the base we had to pass through soldiers with serious rifles. On one trip we found this little furniture maker and I fell in love with this chest. I will never forget the vendor's statement, "You come back tomorrow. We will make you antique". So this is my new "antique" complete now with real dents and dings from it's life traveling all over the country on military moves. It remains a favorite because of all the little drawers and the treasures they house.

Thank you, Pat. You got in before I had had the chance to write up it's description. This is part of my Project 365 - I'm doing one per day this year - just treasures that I have that remind me of people I've met, the places I've been and the friendships I've made. I plan on somehow pairing it done into some form of a book for each of my two grown children. #8275421

I really LOVE this image and the story that goes along with it! The light here is just right to show off the interesting detail on the draws and give the arrangement just enough attention. Congrats on your EP....a wonderful addition to your project! Whats inside?????? :~) #8331515

Thank you Aimee and Ken. Lets see - what DO I have in the drawers? LIttle Christmas lights, little candleholders, napkin rings, coasters, little rice stands. It'd be great for jewelry, but then I'd have to put it upstairs and I like it right where it is. #8335505
