Description

Wow! Where is that Bridge?

It's just 45 minutes from here
It's "Two Mile Bridge"--
The longest inland bridge in Texas.
There's talk of replacing it.

Oh ... that would be sad

Well ... we've actually uprooted the RV (it's in storage). Before we left I snagged this series. I've never attempted to create a panorama ...

I am so very homesick. I don't know that I have the heart to work on this anymore. I'm stuck in the city for the summer. Cities make me feel stifled.

The time of day created such a huge variance between shots that I decided to just let them stand as they are w/o trying to adjust them. It's not as smooth a transition as I would have liked but...

So ... anyway ... i'm at least having some fun with my photos

have fun,

Hey Sharon,

Thanks for the comments and cheer. I am feeling a bit more refreshed today. My darling hubby took me to a lake north of town and we camped out over night. Then I sunburned my face and neck this morning LOL.

Sometime last night it dawned on me that I forgot to say that even though I may not work on this particular one anymore ... i am interested in a critique.

From you i'd like to know about a framing idea. At some point I started wondering if maybe some sort of edge like hmmm like a beveled mirror type edge would help or hurt ... or someother type of inside framing idea (aka no border type frames because the continuity of the bridge would be too broken)

And the more I look at the background the more I think I wish i'd stuck with the near teracatta color that I first started with.

As far as our next adventure goes ... Portland, Oregon is coming up in conversation more and more.

Have fun

Many times we trive to get a perfect image.

A perfect exposure, a perfect composition, a perfect focus, and even a perfect panoramic stitching.

Nowadays, I don't worry about a perfect panoramic. I even change the exposure intentionaly to enhance that border.

I like the panoramic you just gave us. I think a white background is better. This kind of work I try not to frame it. Some times I let the adhesive tape show up on the borders and even on top of the individual prints. I got one taped to the window behind me and another one on the glass door on my right side. They look good that way...don't bother framing or placing a border or a mat...Its your bridge, its your lake, those are your memories...no need to add a thing...Take care.

LOL ok ... so if I can be interesting, I don't have to be perfect? Interesting I can do ... so if I can get a bit better at capturing it ... hmm

I got sick to death of looking at the white background when I was working on it. We are in the summer sun season and the cafe is always filled with its brilliance until after 8p. Under those conditions, the blue on white just seemed ... painful. but I will look at it again with just plain white.

Hmmm sometime when I have scotch tape, a window, paper, color ink, oh and a printer ... I might try your panarama idea out. I didn't realize we had moved into such a paperless couple until you mentioned scotch tape and I couldn't remember the last time i'd even wished for some. Now, if I could just get all the financials to only exist in my computer or online ... I could begin to wonder what a stapler is.

The thing that surprised me about this experiment was that I took the pictures in a very quick way ... so fast that some of the overlapping actually covers over the same pickup going across the bridge. So, I thought I'd surely have to rotate and manipulate much more than I did. But, there were just two that I gave a 1.5 degree counter clockwise turn.

Have fun,

Dear Kerby,

LOL I am happy. I've now gotten my bridge approved three very talented artists. It also keeps coming up in various email conversations. I've been very surprised by the very positive reactions to a very quick experiment.

It's nice when art can feel "easy" and still express me (to me) so well.

have fun,

Hey Sam!

So good to see you!

LOL !! You have no idea how much I needed a laugh this morning. My camera--long may the junk rest in peace (although my husband keeps threatening to disassemble it--and if he does it, he'll probably fix it since he's no slouch when it comes to mechanics & electronics. You know, of course, some bloke posted on the Internet exactly how to disassemble it) ...anywayyy my camera took a a very short tumble but it landed on its beak & with the beak out & so now the beak is bent (of course I'm referring to the lens) & the beak's drive won't go in & out. So I have no focus--I mean the camera has no focus. Well, maybe I had it right first.

AND, of course, the work my husband was supposed to do evaporated 2 weeks ago & the company hasn't even paid for work done 45 days ago.

AND my tech writing project is going very slowly so it will be a bit before I get past the hours that are basically ... "here's your Money ... no really here's YOUR money." (I'm paying off my licensing fees for my own use of the web building tools) ... so ... there's no $$$ there yet.

SO there's no way to replace my hunk of junk with even a cheep 3mp point & shoot. When the money does come in, it's all spoken for anyway. I have really mixed feelings about the hp945. On one hand I miss having something, anything to capture images with. On the other hand ... the night before I was ready to fling it up against a wall for being nothing but a noise generator (Maybe my contempt drove it to suicide?)

I was teasing a friend of mine last night that I was going to do the All American thing & start of a fund raising campaign to get a camera. He thought it was a great idea, though! (more) #2422482

BUT !!! there is some good news. I do now own a used laptop that has 1 Gig of RAM & a 60G Hard Drive. That is 7.8 times more RAM & 10 times more Hard Drive space. It was yet another steal of a deal from yet another software developer!

i can now have Photoshop, FireFox, Thunderbird, Sunbird (.02--the .03 build is not behaving for me), ACDSee, OpenOffice Writer, & Widgets, & Trillion ... oh & plus there's Webshots, AVG antivirus, Google Talk, Google Desktop, & a firewall ... THEY ARE ALL open all at the same time ... OH OH & I can play itunes in the background too! & I still have over 500MG of RAM left to play with !!! I just can't comprehend this.

On my old pc, I had to close every little everything (except antivirus) to use just Photoshop4! Oh & occassionly the Widget gage that shows the processor useage twitches ... on my poor old pc it stayed pegged over on overload.

Oh & other than the Win 2000 OS & Windows Media Player, I have loaded Zero, Zip, Nada Microsoft programs. I didn't actually set out to do this the first time it happened -- about a year ago. I had to reload my pc for some reason & I reloaded the programs as I need them & six weeks into it I realized I hadn't loaded anything MS. Again I find myself without need. Poor things.

I've been transferring my old photos that make me sooo homesick onto this pc & I think they would make a nice gallery for my website. So, it's not like I won't have anything photographic to do. (alright so my fingers twitch when I say I don't have a camera to pick up.)

Anyway ... thanks for the laugh & I've proven you right! ... I've also got some new writings up in my zine area of my MarillaAnne Web site.

Hope all is well with you & that you are finding great ways to ...

have fun!
