Thanks so much for the nice comments. I did this using MGI Photosuite. I started by using the antique filter, then cloning out some things in the foreground. I adjusted the brightness/contrast and cropped slightly. I then added the oil painting filter. It made me think of Thanksgivings long past. #2886

I love this photo. In fact I have this very scene as the wallpaper on my laptop. Not yours but one of many I have taken on my many visits to this lovely living museum. When I was there this last September I got there just before sunup and got some great shots throughout the visiters center while the fog was low to the ground. Did you know that this cabbin is not original to the site? It is the cabbin of Joe Queen which was moved there by the Park Service because the original home of Abraham Ecloe had long sinse decayed. Some say that Abraham Ecloe may have been the father of Abraham Lincoln due to the fact that Nancy Hanks (Lincoln's mother) was a servant in the Ecloe home prior to Lincoln's birth.

I am curious about the smoke from the kitchen chiminy in your photo. Did the Park Service have a fire going or did you render it yourself. I visit there several times a year and there has never been a fire going.
I would realy like to see some of your other photos of this site especialy around the barn. Good Work! #2968

Hi Winston, I'm glad you liked the photo. I love this area of NC and we visit there 2 or 3 times a year. This was taken in October of this year. They actually had two fires going. It was the first time I'd seen them have actual fires there. It really created a mood as to how it must have been long ago. I didn't know about the facts you listed. That is really interesting. I have some other shots that I'm working on from the area. I would like to see some of your photos. The fog sounds like it would make for some good shots! Thanks again for commenting. #2969

Dear Donna, am curious to know if you took this with a digital camera as I'm not familiar with MGI photosuite and the oil painting filter. Wanting to get one and wondering if you can have all these options for your pictures. Thanks, Beth15@prodigy.net

Simply stunning. This is why I bought a camera, hoping to be able to do this kind of thing. Never produced anything close to this. I'm so jealous. Keep up the good work. #4082

Hi Donna! This popped up on the homepage when I logged on this morning. Not being a member back then, I had never seen it - bit I love it! Wonderful subtle colors, and a nostalgic feel to the image. Very nice....

(Hey, I started out with a Nikon 950 too - it served me well as I started to learn all this new fangled digital stuff, lol...) #403050
