Description

submitted 10/5/09,DD. So actually there was no storm and it was a quiet sunny day, but anything can happen with PS! Including lightning! Original shot was darkened with Levels, and Render Clouds layer was blended to give more detail to sky. By popular demand, steps to create lightning are as follows:1.Create new separate long rectangle layer 2. Fill with white 3. Drag Black to White gradient from top to bottom 4.Filter: Render: Difference Clouds 5. Inverse (to invert Black and White) 6. Levels: drag bottom left slider to right about all the way til you see lightning streak form 7. Use Screen blending mode 8. Use Transform to stretch out lightning, resize and rotate to desired position, erasing undesired portions. 9. This will make one lightning streak. The side streaks can be made by repeating the process or duplicating the layer, using small portion of streak and transforming to proper size and position, which will require multiple layers. 10. It isn't that difficult once you see

Exif: F Number: 10, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/200 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 400, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 24.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 5D Mark II
