Wooly Violet I

Uploaded: May 27, 2005 17:38:47

Description

I happened upon a tiny cluster of these tiny (3/4 inch tall)gems during a walk at the Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Newington, NH. I was following some wild turkeys, but found these much more captivating. A fleece jacket acted as a wind block and nearly surrounded the flower. An umbrella pressed to the ground gave added wind protection. f22, 8 sec., 120mm macro on Penta 645.
