Dancing in the Sky

Uploaded: October 16, 2009

Description

Hickam Airforce Base, Honolulu Hawaii. Thunderbirds Airshow.

Tech: Nikon D2X DSLR and Nikkor 70-300mm VR Lens Racked out and set at F8, ISO 360, 1/800 Shutter Speed. White Balance set directly from the Sun, Exposure Set to Manual and Spot Metered the Sky to 18 percent. DSLR set to 6 megapixel mode to achieve its maximum burst speed of 8FPS.

Jpeg Image processed with Photoshop CS3 to reduce digital noise and levels adjusted to retain the most detail on the black engine tips plus maximum detail on the white clouds. Next I added a curves adjustment layer to make the fighters slightly brighter. I finally added a tiny amount of shapening, less than half of what I normally put in there.

That's it.

Exif: F Number: 9, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 10/10000 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 320, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 155.00 mm, Model: NIKON D2X
