Hello Tom, thank you very much for saying so.. and checking out our baby pet rat.We would take our son to the petstore once a week, when Bubbles was just born, and we would hold her.. she got use to us before her eyes were opened and she had fur! This way, she would get to know us, and not bite.. she does not bite at all.. They say, if you adopt a rat when they are older - over a year, they may bite because they are more timid/afraid...
Thank you very much for your great comments, I appreciate you!
Hey Sister Laura, you are so sweet... maybe I will re-enter this one (don't know which category though..)
THANKS sis...

Christine: I'm reading a little about these guys! They are truly nothing like the wild variety and for centuries have been a friend/pet to man. Is she a Fancy, Blue, or other kind? Love that Bubbles! Tom #8175262Christine Lobsinger November 28, 2009
Hi Kiki...thank you so so much!!!
Hi Tom, Bubbles is called a 'Dumbo' because she has the big ears that come out the sides of her head..they are not on top of her head.. therefore, she was a buck more to buy at the petstore..ha! She cost us $ 11.00.
If you like an affectionate little critter that has very cold feet with long toe nails climbing all around you (she feels like a big spider..tranchula?) crawling on my back.. so I wear double clothing..HA! GET ONE!! THe only thing that I thought would freak me out was her tail, BUT it didn't - HER little twitching whiskers did at first.. reminded me of a centipede's legs...always moving, HA,HA!! BUT I AM OKAY WITH THAT!!
Bubbles will be 4 months Dec. 2nd and we are trying to get her use to our harness/rope so we can take her for walks (they DO learn to walk on a leash).. just like ferets do, but she squirms so so much right now...it is hard!!

Christine Lobsinger November 28, 2009
Oh yeah Tom, I forgot to mention, that females are very ACTIVE... move all the time, males do not..they are more RELAXED.. Bubbles also enjoys kissing us alot..I call them 'puppy licks'.. really! Ann Coates here at BP, taught me too about pet rats.. check her gallery out please to see them... OH, and if you don't mind the 'male's privates' hanging and dragging get a male... (just some extra advice)!!You should know too, that these critters CANNOT get loose, they will eat everything.. wires, couch frames, everything.. not becuause they are malicious, but because they NEED to File down their teeth... always! Need to buy them wood blocks/tree logs... proper filing objects.. and DO NOT LET them off the TABLE.. some even build a rat room - with nothing in it to harm them..
OH, MY THE LAST TIDBIT.. we only bought ONE RAT... they should HAVE A PLAY MATE- they do better in at least two's... BUT if you only want one, YOU must take them OUT of their cage and play with them for at least 1 hr. per day...they need the physical contact... they are not like other caged animals..hamsters, g. pigs, rabbits, ferrets - they are happy to stay in their cages and can do nothing all day! Rats are very social animals.. Bubbles is smart, can be trained to come when called.. knows her name etc.. we even taught her to use one contained area for the washroom. If you get two make sure they are both the same sex... or you will know what will happen, (worst then rabbits, ha!) and also two females or two males will not fight!!! Mixed sexes will! If you ever get more than one, try to get them at the same age too...it is better! #8175330

Christine: Isn't Laura funny? Hi Laura! Are you guys really sisters? Anyway, I love your little rat, Christine, and have learned more in the past 24 hours than in the many years before! I am one who is not home much so it would not be fair to any animal. I have a part time cat that really has another home somewhere in the neighborhood. He just likes me because I'm a great second option for food (and my one-time girlfriend saved his life once)! LOL! I have one photo of him in my gallery called 'The Comedian'. As for Bubbles, it makes me feel good that someone so thoughtful and caring, and one who did a lot of studying before hand, will take ever so care of her! Tom #8175435Christine Lobsinger November 28, 2009
NOT AT ALL SIS...I wanted to write this ever since we picked up BUBBLES.. We really love her.. she is a wonderful pet! Just gotta get over the 'OH MY GOD, YOU GOT A RAT' factor.. that's creepy!!! HA!!!CHRISTINE

Wow, Christine, you did well with this one. I opened up the comments section to just say enjoyed seeing Tigger and then read all of the posts about the rat, LOL. Not only did you create a great and appealing photo but the story accompanying it is fascinating. Sounds like a fun animal to have. No, I'm not going to get one. :-) #9076837Laura E. Tom, Hi! :D Sorry I didn't say Hello. I don't know where my manners were but often I find them laying there under the dining room table next to my napkin! HeeHee!
