Description

Gulf fritillaries are now everywhere in my neck of the woods, possibly because they are preparing for their migration over the Gulf to warmer climates for the winter. This fellow was the most brilliant orange-red fritillary I'd ever seen and I chased him down like a crazy lady thru Zilker Botanical Gardens here in Austin. I finally caught up with him as he browsed these yellow zinnias...
