Brownie House

Uploaded: May 10, 2005 09:20:18

Description

My mother used to tell us that Brownies (Tiny little mythical creatures) would use Mushrooms as a house sometimes. I loved the stories and my sister and I would build little houses for them out of sticks and rocks when mushrooms weren't available.

This was done with natural light, ISO 400 film (Canon 2000 rebel) and the kit lense backwards to work as a macro.

Very cool shot, Sara. Interesting work using the kit lens backwards! I wonder if you can do that with a digital? #1341829

Thank you both!

I haven't told any Brownie stories to my boys yet. When they are a bit older I probably will, as well as the creatures I invented when I was about 14 called Foofles. =)

Olivia, it will work with a digital as well, or it should. Try it. It is a little tricky because you have to hold the lens up against the camera tightly so extra light doesn't get in and wash out the picture. If you wobble any, you go in and out of focus too. Still, if you don't have a macro it is a way of working around it a little. I haven't been able to get the DOF to be any better, is VERY shallow, but we'll see. #1341942
