Description

On this windy and rainy day, this mother bear of three cubs appeared to be uncomfortable with the group of photographers in front of her. She had one little cub that struggled to keep up with the family. Our guide instructed us to never get between a mother and her cubs. This was the only moment on the entire trip that I was somewhat fearful. Used a 200-400mm zoom lens with a 1.4x teleconverter. Taken in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.

Most bears have twins but if there is a third cub, the last born of the three usually is small and most of the time do not survive. We have a local black bear that has twins every other year. Haven't seen her this year, hope someone hasn't shot her.
