Elements Of Design - August 21/09

Inside this fantastic 'Tropical Pavilion' representing Indo-Malaysia, found at the Toronto Metro Zoo you will find what Mr. Ron Thom, Architect, wanted to avoid making- what he calls a 'prison for animals.' Aiming for space as non-building-like possible in a 'continuous environment of humans, flora and fauna.'

Exif: F Number: 8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/250 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 200, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 68.00 mm, Model: PENTAX *ist D

Interesting background on this intriguing place, Christine -- and you've captured its essence perfectly. Outstanding! #1171124

Hi Monnie, thank you... I appreciate you popping over to see this amazing roof.
Through the glass portion, you can see the tops of plants.
The Toronto Metro Zoo is different from many zoos in that the collections of animals and plants are located on a geographic basis, versus a species basis. This roof is used on the African Pavilion too.
