Mothership 3 Description: Nikon 24-70 at 70; ISO200; S1/3200; f2.8, handheld. A photographer once told me, “Find a personal theme, Paul, and pursue it through a number of photographs.” In a previous course I photographed the Merry Go Round at the Santa Monica Pier and I called it Mothership. Then later I shot another photograph, of a stained glass ceiling in a shopping maul in Glendale, and, looking at it, realized it could be interpreted to be another version of the Mothership. (I will post both photos.) When my wife and daughter and I were at the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena, I shot this fountain, not realizing at the time that I had shot yet another Mothership. So quite by accident I found, if not my theme, then at least a theme. You can go a little crazy in Photoshop doing this in various ways. I’m posting an alternative that I was going to submit, but when my wife saw the more colorful one, she said to go with it. Listen to the woman, says the character in a Ron Shelton movie. So I did.
