I had to chase this sucker around so much that when it finally landed on a flower, I jumped for joy and almost forgot to snap the picture!

Ooooohhh, love the colors in this. Funny that you almost forgot to take the pic, lol. I think we've all been there at some point, as many pictures as we've taken :)

This is filled with good stuff Christie. Lovely subject, lots of color and good composition. Very nice catch indeed.

However it is a bit soft and over saturated and it got me thinking. (ouch!) If you want to play around with it give this a shot.

First, selectively open the shadows on the butterfly by using the shadows/highlights tool. Then on that same selection apply some high pass filtering.

This will create a mask and you can now make a change to the rest of the image that includes the flowers. I must admit that I was just playing around with a new tool last night and I think this shot would be a great place to apply it.

With the original shot selected and the butterfly protected by the mask, apply the SURFACE BLUR filter. From what I've seen, a setting of around 25 for the radius and about 50 for the threshold should be pretty cool.

I LOVE the bright and vibrant colors of this shot Christie!!! I agree with Dale's assessment that the image is a little soft. I'm interested in seeing this surface blur filter suggested by Dale! #7816131

Chritie, I think it is just a tad too saturated but I still like it because I am into saturating things as well. I haven't gotten any bees this summer. It's too wet for them. It's funny, I get excited too when I am finally getting something and I tend to hold my breath.

I did "catch" a cute little garter snake this morning (on camera) but no good colors to boost the saturation on as he was lying on the concrete of my patio. I grabbed the long lens and it wasn''t doing so great. By the time I went up to get my macro he was long gone. #7816747

Passing the Oreo's around to all! Now, who's got milk?

I could not find any Surface Blur tool, but I did find the Smart Blur tool and it had the same adjustment gizmos that Dale was talking about - but not sure it's going to give the same effect. Anyway, I tried it and think it looks pretty cool on my computer - at least until I upload it. Let's see how it looks on BP. #7816754

Yes, Christie, it seems to have the same effect or at least very similar. LOL you're too funny. Just get some sunglasses. What's a little over saturation among friends? This would look great as a material for a Hawaiian shirt. I'd buy one in a minute.

I am with the rest who think its a little to saturated the colors are beautiful but I am wearing my sunglasses and the choc oreos are perfect and the milk is waiting for those who want it. MUMMMMMM so good! #7817358

I still prefer the saturated one. The flowers in this image gave up any semblance of reality from the get go. This is an artistic rendition and could never be done realistically. LOL I still want a shirt made from this material. :o) It would be a little less dramatic than the ones I have but would be cool all the same. #7820032

See how much fun you guys were all having while I was fuming at Frye's! BTW you guys ate all the oreos before I got home and that's a good thing because I'm trying HARD to eat organic healthy foods which means I dropped the milk habit too...not fun!
Anyway...since the three posts are in, I'm going with the first one. I know, against all the odds, but to me I like the clarity of it the best, the last one looks more like a painting, the middle one ohhh - gosh I don't know, I just like the first one, but I'm no pro as you ALL know!
