Sunset Tank HDR – Other Description: This picture was taken outdoors at sunset, using a 24mm lens. I liked the idea of trying to produce a ‘High Dynamic Range’ photograph, incorporating the setting sun. I therefore used a tripod, setting the WB to “Daylight”, and setting a small aperture to give a large DOF (f/22). I took a series of 9 exposures using the ‘Automatic Exposure Bracketing’ feature of the camera. However, I only used 5 of the exposures to make the finished photograph (-4, -2, -1, 0, +1). I then combined these exposures using a trial copy of Photomatix. I finished by cropping the picture into a panoramic format. Aperture Priority was used because HDR photography requires an image set to have a constant aperture, varying only by shutter speed. Uploaded on 7/31/2009 3:37:11 AM
