Jeffrey...the lighting is wonderful and just enough detail in the shadows. To me, his expression is a mystery. Is he about to break into a smile? Is he sad and about to cry? I keep looking! #7842815

Hi Jeffrey. I am not sure what it is that makes this portrait seem very different than your previous ones which I have admired so much. Probably it is the lighting and for this particular subject it really works well. What I am seeing here is a metaphor with light and dark representing life and then the passing into the hereafter.
Always thought provoking images my friend.
Just as an after-thought, I am wondering whether the bright squares on his shirt collar and shoulder might benefit from being selected and then toned down just a tad as they keep pulling my eyes down and away from Howard's face. What do you think?
