Description

After 2 days waiting out rain and clouds in Peru's Cordillera Blanca, the iconic Alpamayo revealed itself for about 30 minutes near sunrise. Many consider this peak the most perfect and beautiful in the world, and it is hard to disagree. Taken from the Alpamayo Valley. f11, Gitzo tripod.

Thanks for all of your kind words. Jack- The bad weather coincided with a rest day during my trek, along with a stomach bug so it all happened for a reason. I wasn't going anywhere, even if I had wanted to. I woke up to coulds, drizzle, and then a little magic.

Thanks Nadja- The real suffering came during the day prior what I had a stomach bug. I couldn't do much of anything, and taking photos was the last thing on my mind. It would have been interesting to see if any motivation would have been there if Alpaymao had appeared any earlier. I like to think things happened for a reason.
