Description

On the left side of the road, a small path leads out to edge of the bluff where you can see the lighthouse, the dramatic cliffside and the crashing waves of the ocean below. This picture is dedicated to Monnie Ryan who was on the phone cheering me on while this image was taken. The Point Arena Lighthouse, Point Arena, California. Canon 50D 100-400L at 100mm, Manual, f/20, 5 seconds at ISO 100. Tripod and release. A 0.9 neutral density filter was used to extend the shutter speed to soften the crashing waves while a 0.9 Galen Rowell SS GND held back the bright colors of the sky during the long exposure

Exif: F Number: 20, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 5/1 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 100, FocalLength: 100.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 50D

AH! I am first. Can't do much the connection is so slow I could probably hand carry the comment to you faster. Amanda this is a real dreamy shot, love it. The tones and comp are gorgeous, well done as usual. #1157885

Yes, I was cheering you on, Amanda, but as I recall, it was mostly to try and keep you from falling in the ocean! :-D You sure don't need my help to get the most gorgeous lighthouse photos like this one -- awesome colors and perfect composition! #7771125

I've seen and admired a good many of your wonderful lighthouse photos, but this one is one of my all-time favorites. The composition is excellent and the lighting is absolutely outstanding. Wonderful colors...just a great image in all ways!!! (Wish I had been there with you!!!) #7771730

This has such an ethereal feel to it, Amanda. I love the dark silhouette of the land mass and rocks. The dreamy movement of the ocean adds a wonderful glow and colorful blend to the foreground. The color of the sky warms up this composition beautifully. I really like the tiny glint of light coming from the building. Beautiful work! :o) #7772106

Glorious. Breath-taking is surely your first name, Amanda. You knowledge and use of filters is outstanding. What a beautiful affect to this glorious scene. Yours would be the photo a group of photographers making pictures of the same scene would say, "Wow, it could have looked like that." #7774660
