Well Barbara, I emigrated here 17 years ago but always use my vacations to fly back 'home' to the UK as I have a son and daughter, grandson, two sisters and two brothers there but I must start travelling a bit in the USA and seeing some of the places that I only know from ancient cowboy movies. I am probably going to show my ignorance by asking where the Badlands of your image are. I am thinking one of the Dakotas and will take a stab at it being SD-yes?
Thanks for showing me this. Pete #1152368

What a great photo Barbara and love those clouds...It is a beautiful place.
Pete got me going so I looked it up to see where it was and South Dakota is right! Exact location is Jackson, Pennington, and Shannon counties, South Dakota, USA, and the nearest city Rapid City.
Have you tried adjusting levels or curves to brighten it a bit?
I'm re-learning photopshop so can't remember which one does which.
Hope you had a good trip!

Hi Pete and Susan,
Yes, Susan is right, they are located in So Dakota (Black Hills). I was told they were extremely colorful at this time from all the rain they recently received. I didn't really like the storm (they can be fierce out west) but it helped make beautiful photos. I can get you more information if you would like?
I did not do any post-processing of these pictures....just wanted to get them posted. I have Elements, but have not learned to use it yet!
It was a wonderful trip and I will be posting more pictures in my Gallery and my Website!
Thank you for your encouraging comments!

Hi Barbara,
I love the contrast with the angry sky and the beautiful hills and grasslands. I have never been there but would love to go some day.

Thanks Deri,
I have been there many times, but haven't seen them this colorful before. I was told it is because of all the rain. And this storm really helped bring the color out with the dark sky. It was a very intense storm too! It is a beautiful sight to see!
I appreciate your comments!
