You are so lucky to come across these wonderful animals in your travels. The most exciting thing we come across downunder is a sheep or a cow, millions of them. Gorgeous backdrop this moose provided for you Laura. #7713140Troy Gallagher July 07, 2009

Beautiful image, well captured Laura.!!!(R) #7714091frank w. degenhardt July 07, 2009
Laura- What I really love about this picture is that you did'nt try to make it all about the moose. I love the framing of the picture and that we get to see the beautiful setting that this moose gets to call home. Marvelous composition and depth with great dimensions as we go from the moose to the trees, the majestic moutains and then that gorgeous sky.Renee Doyle July 07, 2009
How fantastic to come accross him in the wild like that!!! Great capture Laura! #7715088Jack R. Perry July 07, 2009

Hi Nadya, Gord, Michelle, Tammy, Jeff, Ujjwal, (R) :) , Frank, Sabrina, Renee, Jack, Barbara, Kalena K, Teresa, Cassie and Christine! :) !!!In Essence, Last To First ...
YES! MOOSE ARE HUGE, Christine! MASSIVE in fact! I'm glad you guys liked the comp here, too. I was fortunate to have the grassy plain, then the forest then the Rockies/Sky. It was a fluke really as this was an impromptu shot having seen the moose and having to act quickly. It WAS perfecting timing, Cassie, but only luck! :) !!!
Teresa your moose image is awesome. YOU GOT A PORTRAIT out of him!!! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!
Yes Sister K., same moose. I have more shots of him, too. He actually started on the other side of the road. Then he crossed, then was -here- and then disappeared into the forest. I have photos of it all. :) It was REALLY EXCITING!!!
SHORTLY AFTERWARDS I shot images of two deer but my zoom isn't good and they aren't great shots. This image above was not zoomed in.
Barbara your birds and blooms are always so beautiful! Thanks!
Jack, you sure can. As soon as I can figure out how to copy and paste him I'll send him to you. What is a CB shot?
Renee, it WAS fantastic. June is a great month to see wild life here. Later in the summer they tend to hide out from all the tourists and find food and berries further up into the mountains.
Thank you Sabrina! :)
Thank you so very much, Frank. I know what you mean. We are taught sometimes to "FOCUS ON YOUR SUBJECT! ZOOM or CROP IN TIGHT!" He really does look beautiful there just being -part- of the image doesn't he? Thanks so much for saying so. :)
To the rest of you listed above, thank you so much. It was such a thrill to be standing there in person that close to a wild moose in his element. I am so grateful it wasn't a bear. They can run 40 MPH and up right straight at you. Humans can run on AVERAGE 15 mph at best. The MATH is against us.
This beauty had no interest in charging me. He gave me a change to think about my comp
It was my lucky day. NOW, GORD, if I could only find ROCKY to go along with BULLWINKLE!
OH YAH! I THINK I SAW HIM IN MY GALLERY DELIVERING A BABY! #7716440

Laura, all I could think while studying that relatively tiny moose in front of such towering, gorgeous trees on such a lovely summer's day, was,"Lucky Laura! She was THERE! In PERSON! With the sun on her shoulders, and a view like this before her!"Laura E. Swan July 11, 2009
Thank you Mary!!! I REALLY WAS this close to him, too! (MY FLAT CAMERA HAS A TERRIBLE ZOOM LENS!)...It really was pretty invigorating. It doesn't happen to me often!
Your comments are always so creative and fun to read. Thanks again! -Laura #7730156
