AMAZING is all there is to say. I don't think this image can be improved upon. I think we would all like to know your set-up for this. Just beautiful. #1150229

Thank you so much Debbie. Sorry I was remiss in not providing more detail.

This was shot form my bedroom window - open with the screen off. I used my tripod and a cable release and prefocused manually in daylight at the building which we have a clear view of from the house. In this case the Nugget Casino in Sparks, Nevada, where they set fireworks off from the roof. I used my 400mm telephoto. Set manual exposure f18 at 2.5 seconds ISO 100 and just hit the shutter release button when it looked like the timing would be good. I knew the approximate settings from prior years and checked the screen on a few early bursts to make sure it was OK. Watched the fireworks normally and just pressed the release now and then. Cloned out the Nugget sign and the aircraft waning lights from the top of the building to give just the solid black BG. #7708562

What more could you want than to be able to shoot fireworks in your jammies? I couldn't tell anything else was there so you did a fantastic removal of all that stuff and I love how sharp the burst are. I also like that little bit of smoke....looks like the northern lights! :~) #7711889

Vicki Snow July 06, 2009

great shot...I like all the different colors and its clear as a bell...thanks for sharing...wish I could have gone...but it was race night...couldn't miss Daytona!! #7712410

Thank you Ellen it is nice not to have to face the crowds.

Thanks Aimee. I was not in my jammies, but my wife was. She works on Sun & Mon and starts at 5:00am so we don't try to do anything that would keep us out after 9pm on the nights before. Here is a different shot with no cloning so you can see the buildings.

Thanks Vickie - got to watch those cars drive in a circle ;-) You know I am kidding.

I like number 2 with the 2 sets of bursts, but I'd lose the building even though it's all lit up! :~) What no button up PJs with monkeys on them? #7713845

Thank you Aimee - the last 2 posts were just to show what the scene looked like and a bit more of the fireworks. As far as the PJs - have you been peeking in my closet?

Thanks Tony they are fun to shoot but there is not much you can do with them.

Thank you Christie very kind of you to say.

Thanks Susan I think that would make a great shot! #7715968
