i took a whole bunch of images at a fireworks show on friday night. i'm not sure though what constitutes a good fireworks image. certainly a nice cityscape adds a great backdrop. but no cityscape here....small town country fair. #1150144

I like it with no backdrop. Just the black BG and the explosion. Great shot. Love the purple and black. #7707636

I am not certain what would be considered "good" either but I like this capture. Nice and clear with the simple BG and great color. #7707730

Very nice Sharon! I love the simplicity of the single color on the black background. Good stuff.

I haven't had a chance to look at mine from last night yet. Can't wait to see if I got anything worth while. #7707896

I'm on board with Jeff about the simpicity and monochronicity Sharon...a different breed of fireworks images than the usual fare... #7707976

Dale Hardin July 05, 2009

Simplicity is king and this is "simply" beautiful. Very nicely done Sharon. #7708170

boy you guys are fast! thanks ellen, jeff, mike, rita, tony, and dale.

i did use the bulb function and found that fireworks are really an improvisational capture...you just never know what you're going to get :) #7708185

i like this sharon. very delicate (which you would actually think of for describing fireworks) :-) it's been great to see all the different images we've come up with from our different locations in the world #7709786

I don't think there is one good way of taking a fireworks photo. I have seen many different kinds in the past day and really I like alot of them. This one of yours is actually one of my favorites and I'm not just saying that because you are a Phello! I love how sharp the explosion looks and how you framed it in the stark black sky. My husband also commented on how much he liked it and that in itself is a compliment since a photo is a photo is a photo to him! LOL! :~) #7711473

Sharon Lohrmann July 06, 2009

your right jodi - there sure have been lots of firework images the past couple of days.

thanks aimee and to your husband too! I was trying to go for an "elements of design" theme with this series. so I tried to keep them all very simple and graphic.

i submitted this one today under EoD. hopefully the judges will like it as well. #7711810
