Description

House Wren outside a terra cotta pot in which they have built a nest. This is in my backyard. It has been fascinating watching them build their home. (file name house_wrens_2009_05_24_1835)

They are wonderful little birds. This week I witnessed an amazing scene when a squirrel came too near to the wren nest in our mulberry tree. The dad chased the invader down the tree trunk and then proceeded to chase the squirrel through the yard, flying at "tail level" inches from the ground, zig-zagging across half an acre, until the frightened rodent was run off the property! Awesome. #7599247
