Thanks for your comments. There was a lot of processing involved with this one. I used Photomatix and Adobe Camera RAW to create an HDR image from multiple exposures of a single frame. This allowed me to brighten and bring out detail in the birds without washing out the sunset colors. This process resulted in quite a lot of noise, which was addressed with ACR and Photoshop. #7506540

Please excuse my ignorance, but I didn't think that HDR worked with images that have movement especially flying birds!? Please educate me in how this works. Your image is beautiful!

If you want to eliminate or beautifully reduce the noise, check out the Noise Ninja plug-in at

I had an extremely noisey image taken of my husband in the dark, using one reading spot. Using the Noise Ninja in default mode made a world of difference.

This was done when the Noise Ninja arrived, as is:

Try it! It's wonderful and very reasonably priced.
