Hi,
I am new to this web site and thought
what a great photo of your daughter.
She looks so natural and it's great
credit to you as a photographer to
capture that expression.

hi great shot - tell me how did you get the face correctl exposed? I oftrn find that the sun behinc confuses my meter and I get dark faces. Did you use fill flash? #779

You know....I took this quite a while ago and I don't remember the exposure but I know I didn't use fill flash or anything else to bounce light onto her face because to be honest I didn't even know at the time I made this shot how to do that. I might have used the "spot metering" inside the camera I have, but I'm not sure. I probably just got lucky. Today I would use something to bounce light into her face or maybe a very low fill flash. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the comment :-) #780

hi there - I am interested - how do you do a ' low fil flash'- When I take pics with flash it always overpowers the shot - thanksin advance - Helen #781

With my flash there is a way to overide the TTL (through the lens) setting and set it up manually. The settings go from 1/8 through 1/64th. Gradually increaseing in power. This is not the pop up flash on a camera, it is a stronger flash that I put on the hotshoe.... there isn't any way of controlling that pop up flash (on the camera) I don't think. But the on camera flash is usually pretty low powered, so if that is what you have it would probably be good for fill flash outside.
Hope this makes sence.. #782

Thanks - I cant get my head round manual flash - I too have a stronger flash and the TTL flash is too strong - true the popup flash is weaker - I'll try it. Thanks #783
