Ivy's Rainbow

Uploaded: February 13, 2003

Description

On Thursdays I stay with an eighteen year old friend, Ivy, who was seriously injured in a hiking accident. She nearly died, and is making a remarkable recovery from traumatic brain injury. Today she got to go home to be with her family for a few hours. When we left the hospital this beautiful rainbow greeted us. It seemed like a symbol of hope for her full recovery.

Beatiful rainbow and a touching story, Carol! I have a friend who had a bad motorcycle accident and serious brain injury from a crushed skull. It's been a long road (5 years) but he was just telling me last weekend that his thoughts had started to flow smoothly and logically for the first time since his accident and he was celebrating because he was actually able to trouble-shoot and repair his truck. (He used to be a heavy duty equipment operator and mechanic). There is definitely hope! I wish the best for your friend and that she will have the same ultimate success at full recovery! #53646

Thanks Gary, and thanks for sharing the story of your friend. Ivy has been amazing, and I think she will be able to recover fully. She keeps amazing her doctors with her progress. I'm glad your friend is doing so well. It is quite a battle. #53650
