Description

A New Beginning
An abstract I created from an original photo I shot of a yellow rose at Brookside Gardens in MD. Use the polar coordinates filter several times just kept rotating the photo.
Loved the effect when printed on Museum Classic paper.

aperture F/8, shutter 1/640 sec, location Brookside Gardens, time of day 12:24 pm

Patricia, this is lovely! Are you familiar with the painter, Georgia O'Keefe? She was American and famous for abstract, sensual flowers. For me, your photo evokes the paintings of Georgia O'Keefe. #1315340

I really loved this picture. It is so romantic. It awakened old passions in me. It is hard to understand how an abstract can raise such feelings in my libido. #1316493

Mary L. Lemley May 03, 2005

My first initial look at this image was that it was a human ova or(ovum) which had split into twins. I would love to see the actual flower, though it must have been nice. Interesting effects. Congrats #1316712

Thank You all for the congratulations. I was so surprised when I received so many e-mails and comments. It is such an honor to be selected for POTD and in the company of so many of you outstanding photographers.
Photography has become a passion for me and especially flowers! Thank You all again for being so kind!

P.S. For those of you who mentioned Georgia O'Keefe. Yes I have had others tell me that my work reminds them of her work. That also is a great encouragement to be compared to someone so great! #1327404

Mary-Ella Bowles May 08, 2005

A belated congrats on this unusual and evocative POTD. I agree with the others in that it reminds me of Georgia O'Keefe's work. Very nice, Patricia. #1331815

What a wonderful photo! ... isn't it fun when something surprises and delights you like this? Sometimes my rejects turn into amazing delights when I spend time manipulating them. Somehow, the "perfect" ones never call to me for that extra creative sparkle.

This photo really motivates me ... thanks! #1334772
