I think this is a perfectly lovely landscape, Peter, with wonderful detail and clarity throughout. I have trouble getting good focus on both the foreground and the distant features of a landscape and you have done so perfectly here. Beautiful light and colors, too. #1073037

Beautifull, you can tell its Cornwall from the Foxglove! lol I have a similar shot in my gallery using the foxglove as forground interest called "Foxgloves and Bridges" also shot in Cornwall. Lovely shot Pete. #7174319

Nikki, I am so sorry, I somehow missed your response. Thank you very much for your kind comments. This image was shot with my older Olympus pro-sumer C4000 before I purchased my Canon 20D SLR. The Olympus has an excellant lens and gives a good depth of field even at this setting.
Chris, thank you too. Yup, it's definitely a Cornish foxglove! We have tried growing them over here in south central Illinois but our summers are hot and dry and we haven't had much success. Your image of Foxglove and Bridges is so similar in concept; I love these old granite bridges found all over Cornwall and Devon. There is one not far from my old home in Cornwall called Newbridge and was built in fourteen hundred and something. My American wife always finds this hilarious as over here bridges usually fall down after fifty years! (a small exaggeration, but not by much).
Thanks again my friends. Pete #7175527

Very Pretty! #7620991

Thanks again Shelly. Just 21 days till we fly back there for a month's vacation. This year I shall try to take my photography seriously and take my tripod with me. I have never used it but it's about time I did and it should slow me down and make me think about the image and settings. Cornwall is so very photogenic with its ancient harbours and villages so I am praying that we get some decent weather. When the clouds blow in from the Atlantic they can bring days on end of grey skies and drizzling rain then nothing is too much fun and that is when we are glad that every village has at least two or three old pubs where I can conduct some consumer appraisals of the local beer brews!
