Laura- I love the black background and the white on black look. Another thing I enjoy is the way you spread the flowers out to fill the whole frame. Wonderful lighting, rich colors and fantastic details, especially of the centerpeaces, along with outstanding composition and pov. A lovely foral presentation for sure.
Fabulous work

Hi Everybody! Almost ALL of my friends are here now!

I enjoyed every one of your comments and appreciate them very much. It means a lot to me as an artist to see people really taking a good look and then giving such generous reactions!!!

If I was able to make you feel these were wafting, even for a moment, then my job here is done.

Lonnie, I don't know WHAT -I- was floating on when I made this but I keep waking up with sparkles all over my face! What's with that? I think Momj knows! She's been busy spreading Tinker Bell dusk on everyone!

Thank you again everyone! -Laura #7060965

Laura E. Swan level-classic January 21, 2009

P.S. Christine, Thanks for the suggestion. :) I HAD tried to brighten it a bit but lost definition in the main flower grouping. The black BG lost some luster, as well, so I went with this one. #7060979

I don't think anything is wrong or that you need to change anything. There is just a lot of competition! I also think it just depends on what appeals to the individual judge that happens to be looking at your picture that day. #7463149

Well ladies, these were taken in my backyard. Maybe I will submit this one tonight then into the MT? Thanks Carol and Mumj. I have always heard from other BP'ers not to give up on our favorite images and this is one of mine, so I guess I wont! I really appreciate you saying this one is worth it!

-Laura :)

P.S. Wanna hear something neat? I have an Uncle that is an artist. I mean, the real deal. Sculptor and Oil painter, etc...He viewed my entire gallery yesterday and said it was...how did he put it? Here, I'll copy and paste! Hang on!

Laura Emily, dear,
Oh, yes. I examined every one (some are duplicates), and found so many that were magnificent: very thoughtful and contemplative, profound in meanings you saw and communicated so beautifully. My goodness. I had no idea you were so wise and had so much talent (sometimes talented people are unwise, and vice versa). The contrasts you point out are especially appealing, sometimes sad commentaries are they of the settings being changed by mankind (or by unkind-man). You should pick your great ones and made a book of them, and publish them. Truly, they are wonderful! Nothing I have ever done in art is anywhere near what you have produced in abundance with your little camera! Congratulations, and good show!
Love,
Uncle John #7464473

I also vote for you to resubmit this one in the contest - the MT is appropriate as are flowers & DDR! #7465990

Laura E. Swan level-classic April 29, 2009

Well, the first time was into DDR...I think that suits it best...but these were from my back yard...Flowers is a tough category!! Ugh! What to do! I will pretty SURE enter it tonight however...With the tag on it since others say they have done this...And strong feelings about it either way?

Thanks in advance. Leaving for my study soon...-Sis #7466012

This is such a delicately beautiful image, Pom. I can almost feel that breeze that helped them to float so gently.
It's a wonderful feeling when you lean back after a round in the Digital Darkroom, knowing that your imagination has created something really lovely. Since this was your "first time"(tee-hee), it must've felt as fantastic as when Michelangelo wiped the paint off his face for the last time, and saw in its entirety that amazing ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. What a rush, eh?
:-D

Laura E. Swan level-classic May 05, 2014

What a gift this thread is. I read the whole thing again just now.

Mary thank you for finding this one and commenting today.

(Thank you Patrick for your comment as well.)

Mare, when I am in DDR, I am in a different dimension. A place where there is no "time". The only thing I know in this life that it could be compared to is calling it a spiritual experience.

I am sure you and anyone reading this, knows just what I mean.

I think I will take Lonnie's advice and try and add the moon and stars to this now that I might know how. I was just starting out in DDR when I first make this. :D

Thanks so much for enjoying my gallery today and bringing joy to my heart.

-Pommyangelo :D #11039236

Mary K. Robison May 06, 2014

I fully understand the feeling you describe, Pom. I first felt that more than 20 years ago, when a beautiful piano piece demanded to have lyrics. The words came pretty much as if I were taking dictation, and when I finished and read them while the music played, I thought, "This came from somewhere outside/beyond myself.."
And when you talk about no sense of time in the DDR, I get that, too. I'll glance at the computer clock after I've spent awhile on something I like, and be amazed that two hours or more have passed.
So give that moon-and-stars suggestion a go ~ who knows what spirit will guide your hand and mind to places previously unknown?
:-D
P.S. I like your newest name, especially the angel part. #11039711

Laura E. Swan level-classic May 06, 2014

The same happens to me with lyrics and poems. They come very easily and I also wonder if that was just me. You need to enjoy doing this more often and write it all down, quick! :) Me, too!

What I actually think it is is an untapped talent. Naturally born. We could be writers, as well, Mare. I'd bargain to say your English teachers in High School told you this just as they told me?

Your stories and words would just flow out. I have many books in me. Adventure, heartbreak, excitement, fun. Lessons.

Some I have shared verbally or written to family and friends and I feel my best words were already written and given to "them" as gifts, so I cannot repeat them. They'd never come out the same way again.

I am who stops myself from using those talents for further gain. Seems too big of a chore to write a book! And to who? I'd rather share with those I love.

I'd really enjoy being a columnist of some sort. I can see you doing this, too. (And Kiki as well!!) Ann Landers or something? Where humor could abound too!! Totally. Your e-mails are so easy and fun to read. You have a style all your own! So does Kiki! I'd read your columns every morning with my coffee, no fail! :) !! You'd have me laughing and crying and searching my heart, totally identifying and wishing I could meet you both in person. Something like I feel now! :)))

Have a great day dear Mare!
-Pommyangelo #11040018

Mary K. Robison May 08, 2014

YES X 6, Pommyangelo! Especially paragraph five...if only my ambition matched my talents (such as they are)...

Being a columnist is fun. Maybe you've been told about this before: I had a brief half-year of it, writing about the "music scene", and interviewing people like Cher and Neil Diamond. That was another lifetime ago, I think.
You and Kiki WOULD be excellent as columnists, with your humor and thoughtfulness. Why don't you go knocking on the local newspaper editor's door, with column samples in hand, and charm overflowing? And wouldn't it be a happy shock to you that he /she was impressed enough to give you a trial run? And, if this all happens, remember: I get 15% (10% increased due to inflation) of everything!! LOL!
Mare :-DDD #11041512

Laura E. Swan level-classic May 08, 2014

Wow! No! Mare! I didnt't know this about you! How exciting that must have been and FUN TOO! :D How neat is this??!!

Ya gotta love California! It seems we are all connected to Hollywood somehow or we know someone that is.

My Daddy had a cousin that is now passed away that was a director in Hollywood!! he directed and assistant directed shows like Little House on the Prairie, Bonanza, High Shapparelle, Deliverance...Then when I was about 12 Walt Disney's cartoon people offered me a job! (My parents turned it down!) And finally, Clint Eastwood grew up less than a mile from my home I grew up in. :D

Those are my claims to fame. Oh and I was also personal friends with Wayne Newtons "light" man! :) Set directing stuff! :))) My hubby is well connected to Hollywood too. :)))

I am glad I am not famous. If I was I'd like to be a famous writer or artist since I'd still be able to have freedom of movement.

That's a far as I'd go. Most stars live in their own special prisons. (Their Homes). Sad for them!!

Okay- I wont forget you if I make it big at the news paper...but I will maybe make you my partner and editor and you'd make lots of money. :))) You never make type-o's and your English is impeccable. You're hired! :D

-Pommyangelo #11041549

Mary K. Robison May 09, 2014

Pom, the wretched Internet just swallowed the four or five paragraphs I had spent 15-20 minutes on, writing to .
:-((((((
Briefly: you're right about performers and their prisons, thanks to the paparazzi.
*****
I just lost again what I wrote above...but not before I copied and pasted it in my computer "notebook". So

THERE, Internet!!! HaHaHaHaHa!!!
To continue: why didn't your folks let you take that fabulous job? Actually, not long ago, someone did a biography
of good ol' Uncle Walt. And it appears he was somewhat of a tyrant I mean - c'mon. The guy wanted to be a TV
dinner (frozen).
Anyway, I agree on having a more anonymous writer or artist's life. And don't forget photographers!!
And I believe working with you (and Miss Kiki, too) would be several cat's pajamas. :-D
Speaking of pajamas, it's past 6 am and I haven't slept since 6 PM Wed.! Part of that was because I went to the DMV Thurs. by 8 AM to get a replacement driver's license. The final step in putting behind me the loss of my purse last month. :-/
Then we came home, and since I was in real clothes (unlike my usual gardening attire of jeans and a top that comes from that part of the closet where good clothes go to die), I decided to take some water droplet photos for May's theme.
Guess how many I downloaded...C'mon, guess...I asked Scott how many I took, and he said 500. He hit the nail on the head!
So I'll be sleeping soon, then continuing my deleting of useless photos I took without a tripod. I broke down and got the tripod about halfway through the snapping -approx. three hours........ So don't be surprised if I don't check out the second hat-making video anytime soon. I know you'll be your normal understanding self, and say, "No prob, you slob." I must still be hung up on the gardening clothes. But I did laugh when I wrote the quote. :-D
Take care till the day I come up for air and write you, and have a splendid weekend.
