I think this is an incredibly good shot Kirk! Excellent colour and POV. Love, the arcs created by the reflection! The top right is a tad busy and I am wondering whether cropping to the top of the cabin on the second boat from the right, might give more emphasis to the reflection? Just a thought! #1070266

Great reflection shot, Kirk! I'm heading to Long Beach, CA with my husband for a few days while he is at a convention thing and I hope to get some nice shots of boats..and the Queen Mary and the Aquarium of the Pacific. #7052170Kirk J. McClenahan January 19, 2009
I took this photo while up in San Francisco. What is so unusual is that there aren't many harbours in California that have such colorful boats. Also, growing up on boats my whole life, I find it hard to believe that these boats (maybe 25ft) would go out past the Golden Gate Bridge into the mighty Pacific.Aimee C. Eisaman January 20, 2009
Wow Kirk! This is an amazing shot and the composition is right on in my eyes! I just love this scene! My only suggestion would be to lighten the shadows a tad to brighten it up. You can do this by going into PS under enhance-shadows and highlights. :~) #7056022Dale Hardin January 20, 2009
Very nice shot Kirk. Shooting at marinas is very difficult because of all the "clutter" Our eyes have a way of shutting that out so that we only see what we want to see, but the camera doesn't have that ability.I think your composition is excellent with it's diagonal format and the inclusion of the reflections adds a lot. Well done.
Although I think this image stands on it's own, if you would like to tweak it up just a bit you might try this. I see you have PSE5 and that is perfect.
Instead of cropping to get rid of "clutter" try selectively blurring the last boat visible in the upper left corner of the image. (the one you can't see the bow) This will have the same effect and be much more believable and won't destroy your comp. Don't forget the area between the line and the mast on the boat in front of it.
Then duplicate the image and do a blend using the soft light blend. This will brighten the entire image and give it a little more "pop"

Just received an EP for this. I decided to leave it alone, but at sometime I'll go back and fiddle with it at Dale's suggestion. #7112276Aimee C. Eisaman February 01, 2009
