~Bald Eagle~
Uploaded: January 05, 2009
Yesterday was eagle days at Lake of the Ozarks, in Missouri. My husband and I braved the freezing cold to go check it out. We got close enough to see several eagles on display and after that we drove around. I actually got under a tree, that had an eagle in it eating a fish. I was able to use a 200 mm lens and get a few pictures. This eagle was shot 4 times and survived but is blind in the right eye......very sad, that anyone would shoot a beautiful bird, as an eagle. I will show you the ones in the wild too.

Beautiful and graceful bird #1062365Patricia White January 05, 2009
Love this picture, hope I am fortunate enough to do this, great job. People are very mean, have no respect for special things such as this bird. #6985980Mike Clime January 05, 2009
Nice capture, Shelly! We usually go in the Winter along the Illinois River and see quite a few of them. #6986048Ron McEwan January 05, 2009

Jean, Patricia, Mike and Ron: Thanks so much! I agree, Patricia. I do not understand why anyone would shoot this beautiful bird. As you said, some people are cruel. Have a wonderful day! #6986177Jeff Robinson January 05, 2009

WOW...FANTASTIC capture, Shelly!!! It is very sad he is blind in one eye especially when they rely so much on sight to survive. Some people just don't think! <>< #6989768Nadya Johnson January 06, 2009
Wonderful capture of this very regal fellow, Shelly! To shoot such a creature is a criminal offense, to me. Not only is there Man's Inhumanity to Man; homo sapiens at times, are also inhumane to every other living thing on Earth. It makes me appreciate that old joke: "As an outsider, what do you think of the human race?!" Maybe those crazy theories have some grain of truth, after all: that our ancestors "came" here from another place, a long, long time ago -- some from peaceful planets, others from more warlike worlds across the galaxy!! lol (In which case, I wish the warlike aggressors simply stayed at home!) But the problem's not that easy, I imagine. Either way, a fantastic photo and proof yet again, that the only right way to "shoot" a bird, is with a camera, not a gun! #6990345Linda D. Pamela, thank you....I too rescue anilams and love them....It is good to have people as us.....Missouri is terrible about puppy mills and people selling dogs all over. It really upsets me....the town we live in doesn't even have a SPCA.....very sad. #6996556Sherry L. Davis January 08, 2009
