Great seascape scene Mark ~ I love the colours and balance of composition with the person standing on the dock! #1057716

Thank you so much Susie. This image was cropped from a wider scene and is a self-indulgent nostalgia thing. I was born and raised just a few miles from here and have stood against those railings dozens of times and watched the fishing boats come and go. For the past 16 years I have lived in central Illinois-about as far from the ocean as it is possible to be! Oh well!

Hey Peter, I like the person on the railing, too. It gives the photo good perspective.
Welcome to the group!

Waiting for a child to be at the railings and getting a colorful boat all in one shot...quite a capture I would say! Nice job. (P.S. I wonder if taking out the buoy would keep the eyes more focused on the boat and child instead of drawing the eye to the buoy?)

p.s.s. I put my welcome on the discussion board...just have to mention the photo in your gallery "Four Orange Windows" I love it!

Thank you kindly m'am.
When on vacation and having had a wonderful English pub lunch with a couple of pints of Doom Bar ale it was no hardship to sit me down on in the sunshine and see if anything interesting turned up. The little boy had been fishing off the jetty for some time and I could see the boat approaching across the bay from a couple of miles away so the only clever bit was not to have dozed off at the vital moment.
I was wondering about the buoy but decided to leave it in for no better reason than it was there and that was what I was seeing! I sway back and forth on the argument of what should stay and what should go in images. But I can tell you that if I did a self- portrait and I had a zit on the end of my nose then photoshop and I would have that gone in a flash! #7666391

Great back at ya and you made me smile today! I love it...So yes! The buoy stays and the zit goes! Great answer...
