I used my Canon Digital Rebel and a Tamron 70 to 300 mm lens. The shot itself was a simple portrait style capture. 1/300 sec and f/5.6. ISO set at 400. I had spent two days observing a rather large flock of these raptors in the Annpolis Valley in NS, Can. The next morning, before daybreak, I was in place under a camo poncho and within 20 minutes after daybreak, there were five of these birds within shooting distance.
