False Kiva
Uploaded: November 03, 2008
The False Kiva gets its name from the fact that up until 1986, when it was archeologically researched, it was assumed to be a ceremonial room for ancestral Puebloan people, around 1,200 A.D. The partial excavation revealed that it had only been used for cooking and sleeping for a short period, as there are eight food storage underground cists, but no evidence of a land-fill for the garbage it would have generated over the longer period of a real Kiva.

I found your image, when I was looking for pictures from this place. You've got amazing shots in your gallery, and I'm surprised there's not a winner button under all of them. Thank you for the information, and the capture is wonderful! I'm hoping to be able to get out to this place next time I visit Moab. #7448365Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
