Hi Jim,
What a terrific photo! In fact, this image makes a great selection for BetterPhoto's monthly "Where in the World?" quiz. It will be featured in the very next issue of BP's PhotoFlash newsletter, which goes out June 30th.

So please don't give away the location, Jim - let's see if anyone can come up with the correct answer! I'll check back in a few weeks to see how things are going.

And, for everyone else, have fun guessing where this scene can be found!

Kerry

Hi Jim,
This is a great image. It has to be the caves for the dead in Toraja, Sulawesi, Indonesia. They carve wooden effigies to resemble thier dearly departed. Some are very old wood carvings of thier ancestors, while this one looks fairly new in purple. At certain times they change their clothes and spruce them up somewhat. It is really fascinating to see this tradition. I spent quite some time traveling through the Indonesian Island Archipelago some years back, and would recommend the area to all travelers.

Hi Jim, Great image. I agree with Jeff. I believe it to be Indonesia. #1561255

Hi Jeff and Kathleen,
Thanks for contributing to this "Where in the World?" quiz. Not the easiest one we've had ... but Indonesia it is!

Again, Jim, a terrific image!
