Description

A friend of my daughter volunteered to be my subject for this challenge. I had her stand looking out the window at a slight angle. I really like the light and the softness it gives the photograph. The only thing I don't like is the reflection in her glasses, it is a little strong on the side closest to the window. I guess I should have had her take them off. I tried different angles but overall I liked this angle the best. It has been rainy and overcast most of the week, and I think the additional effect from the rainy day added some of the softness to the north light as well. I used a cloudy white balance to warm up her skin a little. When it clears up and we get a sunny day, I would like to repeat this shot to compare the difference between sun and clouds to see what effect that has on the light.

Taken at noon, rainy day, camera in manual mode, f 5.6, 1/4 shutter speed, ISO 100, WB manual, cloudy, no tripod, no flash.

Exif: F Number: 5.6, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/4 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 100, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 55.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi
