The lens is a first order Fresnel (pronounced "Fraynel") lens made in Paris, France. It was shipped around Cape Horn, up the west coast to Cape Meares and then hauled 217 feet up the cliff by a wooden crane that was built from local timbers native to the area. It is an eight-sided lens with 4 primary lenses and 4 bull's-eye lenses with red panels covering the bull's-eye lenses. The lensBill Knaps September 03, 2008
Beautiful capture Denny. Seems that light could be seen as far as the eye can see over water. Thanks for all the info on the light. It is very interesting. Bill #6405747Denny E. Barnes September 03, 2008
