Red fields, green trees
Uploaded: September 01, 2008
Taken from a train on the way from Meknes to Fes in Morocco. Looking at it on the BP site this image is a lot flatter and lacking in brilliance than it appears in the print or on other web sites which leads me to believe that BP are doing something with the colour profile. (N&L)

Thanks Jennifer, Margaret, Ritta, Dominick, Les, Michelle, Rolando, Clyde and Denny for tasking the trouble to look and write such lovely comments. #6397596Summer A. Kozisek September 02, 2008
This is a fantastic image Peter, the colors, details and the comp are all excellent. I think it looks great on here, is this a tiff or a jpeg? I know when I convert my images to jpegs rather than tiffs, (I shoot raw) the decompressed image is less vibrant. Just a thought! #6401607Bonnie C. Lackey September 02, 2008
This is such an incredibly beautiful image - those lines leading across the landscape seem to hold everything together - the muted colors give it a timeless appearance - I can just imagine the original being even more glorious. #6401632Summer A. Kozisek September 02, 2008
Silly me, I meant compressed image, not decompressed. Time to give the brain a rest!! #6401822Peter R. Hammer September 02, 2008
Thanks Bonnie and Summer. Summer when you shoot in RAW you might have had your colour space set to Adobe RGB and if you don't convert that to sRGB when putting in on the web the image will look flatter. I only shoot in jpg. I tried RAW and found it didn't offer me anything other than a whole lot more work. I also do all my PS work in 8 bit mode and it works just fine. #6402054Summer A. Kozisek September 03, 2008
I do have it set to RGB, and I've never had any issues with color. I only notice a difference in the colors from tiff to jpeg. I guess I'm a control freak, I truly love shooting in raw! My Canon 5D has 16 bits of color in raw, so I guess you could say I'm addicted to that as well! Keep on shooting, and thanks for the discussion! #6408065Peter R. Hammer September 03, 2008
Hi Summer, Adobe RGB or sRGB? There really shouldn't be a colour difference from changing fro TIFF to jpg unless the colour space has changed. #6408124Summer A. Kozisek September 03, 2008
That makes sense, I'll have to play around with it, thanks! #6408165Dianna Murphy September 09, 2008
