Description: This photo is of the J C Nichols Fountain on the Plaza in Kansas City. I really wanted to try to demonstrate with one photograph how much I have learned in this course. What I kept in mind with this photo were the lessons in shutter speeds, white balance, ISO and AV.
ISO-appropriate setting for night photography.
Shutter speed-show motion of the water in the fountain.
AV-used as wide open as possible to allow light in because the flash wasn't used.
WB-used tungsten because the end result was more pleasing than the other settings, the blue in the tungsten counteracted the dingy yellow hue from the lighting at the top of the center of the fountain.
I am very proud of this photograph. I really like that the blue spotlights from the club across the street show up and also that the water effect came out as nice as it did.
Taken at 920pm, cloudy evening, tripod used, no flash, camera in manual mode, 1 sec shutter speed, f 4.5
