2004:12:18, 11:11:08. 1/180 sec. ss, f5.6, ISO 100, RAW, 100mm Macro USM lens, Tripod, Blue foamboard held above for BG. PS CS cropped. I guess this critter wasn't too happy with my placing the foamboard above it as it reared upward when I did so, sort of challenging me to get closer!!

Happy Holidays, everyone!! This image is something I have been trying to shoot for months. These spiders show up all over the place here but are difficult to shoot because they are always facing you and their backs within a space between the web and wall, railing, whatever, is a mere few inches apart. This one was about 7 feet up and six inches or so from the garage wall, and thankfully the center pole of the tripod can be mounted horizontally to shoot straight up and the web is a rather large one. I don't think the spider is fully matured, and there is another that is just a baby, maybe 1/4 inch in diameter about three feet off the garage floor!

Hi, Marcie! I don't know about brave, but my neighbor, a policewoman, was watching me 'shoot' this, so I had 'protection', so to speak (LOL!)!! Thank you for your kind response!
