The Temple of Isis
Uploaded: July 03, 2008
Often called Philae Temple, the Temple of Isis is situated on Agilka Island in the Nile at Aswan, Egypt. Like Abu Simbel the Temple was rescued from the rising waters which inundated its original home on Philae Island due to the construction of the Aswan Dam. This shot is of the colonnade which runs along the east side of the forecourt between the first and second pylons. The doors visible in the shot lead to small rooms used for various purposes such as preparing incense and housing the sacred books. One of my favorite photos a 17X22 framed print is hung on my living room wall.

I love this photo. I think it's the repetition that draws me in. This is one of my favorites in your gallery. #6473390Michael Kelly September 18, 2008
Thank you very much Sheryl. This one is one of my all time favorites, too. I have it printed on velvet fine art paper and triple matted behind museum glass in my living room, and it shows much better there than on a monitor. I like your comment about the repetition as I think that is one of the reasons we like it so much. #6473693Cora Miller October 30, 2008
I really like the depth perspective and repetitive elements in this. I can see why its a favorite of yours. Very nice work, Michael. #6686481Michael Kelly October 31, 2008
Thank you, Cora. I appreciate your kind words. Those ancient Egyptians really knew how to build. #6686501Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
