Description

From some earlier photos I had taken. Shot under tungsten with backlighting. I had left the W/B set to daylight, not my intent, and the pics are horribly orange :-). They come up in B&W ok though.

Cool picture, lots of life to it! How do you set white balance to Tungsten with this camera? I am still a little mystified by the white balance attributes of my camera, it's still new to me. #195832

Hi Amy,
The tungsten setting is usually represented by an icon of a light buld (which is a tungsten source). If you have the same camera (300D/Rebel) just hit the W/B button when in one of the creative modes and use the scroll wheel to select tungsten.

Wonderful lighting, and composition. This image works great in B&W, Graham! #966968

Wow, I really like this shot, Graham! I love the way her hair is illuminated by the light behind her; almost makes her look angelic. She's a beauty anyway, and I just love the way this picture was taken! :) #968476

Rob, Amanda, thank you for lovely comments. Unfortunately many of these shots were a bit soft due to slow exposures. I was using tungsten lamps only. Those that did work came out beautifully. She was a great model. The slightly 'unkempt' look work well because she does have a very angelic face.

Out of curiosity, what speed ISO were you using and what lens lenght? #969462

Graham Jones December 13, 2004

Hi Amy, I'm at work at the moment so this is a stretch of the memory. I know I was using my 100-300mm lens as I recall jamming myself up against the wall in an effort to fit more of Renee into the shot. So it would have been the equivalent of 160mm (focal cropping).
I'm very sure that these were shot at ISO 100. These (there are two others in my gallery) were my first ever attempts at studio style pics so I remember them quite well.
