Nice capture, Peter. Love the light house. It's a shame about the flood. So much of it in different states. #943712

Thanks Kay! This was taken at Grafton, Illinois which was severly affected by the great flood of 1993. The little town on the bank of the Mississippi about 25 miles north of St Louis had a population of 1000 folks but although it is slowly recovering there are only about two thirds of that number now.
The "lighthouse" is in fact not a lighthouse and serves no navigational purpose but was only recently built to commemorate the flood and represent the spirit of those folk who stayed on and rebuilt the town. It stands on a gravel parking lot alongside a marina and I deliberately composed it with the light pole on the right of the image to indicate where dry land once was now that it is flooded once more.
Thanks agin for your comments. #6071165

What a great capture of what mother nature can do.... the light house is beautiful and the colors are great. #6101622
